About Jon

Jon first arrived in the Greater Washington area in 2007 and earned his Master’s in Education from The George Washington University in 2010.  Jon has taught at local schools for the last number of years as both a teacher and learning specialist and has taught classes and supported students in a broad range of subjects and at varying skill levels: from AP courses to fully modified special education courses.

Jon’s favorite area of focus has been coaching students to strengthen their reading comprehension and math skills and this led him to discover a natural strength in teaching the SAT.  Jon founded EmpoweredSAT.com on the principle that all students have the ability to unlock their potential and take control of their learning.

Jon lives in Silver Spring, Maryland, with his wife Rachel and their two children.  When he is not developing new strategies for conquering the SAT, Jon can be found running in local state parks and reading bedtime stories to his two year old son.
